Bio
Abraham Duarte is Full Professor in the Computer Science Department at the Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid, Spain) and leader of the GRAFO (Group for Research on Algorithms For Optimization) research group. He has done extensive research in the interface between computer science, artificial intelligence, and operations research to develop solution methods based on Computational Intelligence (metaheuristics) for practical problems in operations-management areas such as logistics and supply chains, telecommunications, decision-making under uncertainty and optimization of simulated systems.
He has established a highly productive long-term collaboration with Prof. Rafael Martí’s group at Universidad de Valencia, resulting in over 50 JCR-indexed papers, 25 book chapters, and more than 50 international conference presentations together.
Research Leadership
GRAFO Research Group: Leader of the Group for Research on Algorithms For Optimization at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, one of the most prominent optimization research groups in Spain.
Doctoral Supervision: He has supervised numerous PhD students including Sergio Cavero, Eduardo G. Pardo, and other members of the current Red HEUR network.
International Collaboration: Long-standing collaboration with Prof. Rafael Martí (Universidad de Valencia) and participation in the Spanish Network on Metaheuristics.
